The Cultural Awareness Education Program is particularly appealing to European students who wish to learn more about life in Canada while studying in a Canadian school.

Students enrolling in this program generally plan to limit their Canadian educational experience to one term, one semester or one year.

The Gulf Islands International Education Program gives first priority to one semester or one year students who are academically motivated and who have expressed an interest in one or more of the elective programs offered by the school. This program is not available at the middle school.

Many of our German and Swiss students have expressed an interest in the high school’s French Immersion and Spanish programs. Additionally our performing and visual arts programs have attracted many of the students to Saltspring Island and the Gulf Islands International Program. The natural beauty of the island and the recreational opportunities are also motivating factors.

Every year about half of our international students are enrolled in the Cultural Awareness Education Program.
